Madhuri Marelli's Bio . . .

Ms. Marelli's interest in classical music awakened at age 3. She studied classical piano ages 8-16, and played clarinet from age 10 through high school in band and orchestra, scoring the highest levels in NY State solo competitions for 3 consecutive years.

From an early age, Madhuri loved to sing and dance, singing in school and temple choirs until her late teens, and studying ballet off and on as an adult.

Madhuri took time away from music as life had other callings, to receive her B.A. degree in Psychology from Indiana University, and medical training as a Physician Assistant at State University of New York at Stony Brook medical school. She completed a Master's degree in Spiritual Psychology in 1992 at University of Santa Monica in California. She has been an ordained minister in the Church of the Movement of Spiritual Inner Awareness since 1979. She has had her own Natural Medical and Gynecological practice since 1975, Health for Life and is a GriefRecovery Therapist.

Formal vocal instruction began in 1990. Ms. Marelli studied with 2 prestigious teachers, Maria Martino in the Los Angeles area, and Elaine Hunter in Phoenix, AZ. Other vocal studies included 3 Master Workshops and Performances with Sir David Willcocks in Santa Barbara in the late 1990's, and opera workshops at Arizona State University. Additionally there were various other renowned teachers and coaches throughout the years who impacted her stage presentation and vocal performance in general.

Ms. Marelli has performed in professional chorales in Los Angeles, Phoenix and San Diego as chorale member and featured soloist. She toured East Germany and the Czech Republic in 1993, performing J.S. Bach and Renaissance repertoire. Ms. Marelli made her operatic debut in 1999 at Arizona State University in Suor Angelica by Puccini.

Ms. Marelli has been a vocal soloist since 1996 at weddings, funerals and churches, performing repertoire of operatic and all period music from the 1600's to contemporary, in 6 languages.

A sampling of her special performances include: The Queen of the Night Aria, Mozart; Una Voce Poco Fa, Rossini; The Jewel Song, Gounod; scenes from the The Student Prince (role of Kathie), Romberg; O Holy Night, Adolphe Adam; the soprano Messiah arias by Handel; and other Puccini, Verdi, Vivaldi, Bach, Handel and Mozart pieces.
